so ive had my rhom for a month or 2 and he is starting to really settle in. when i first got him he was very scared but would attack anything and then retreat quickly. he has become much less skittish and will study anyone near the tank and he is beginning to challenge people. anyways here are a few pics i snapped in my cellp20120622_074550.jpg20120622_074443.jpghone.

Looking great! His colors have really settled in since you got him.

ya his oranges have really popped. now i just need better lighting. i feed him whatever i get. so far he has eaten shrimp tilapia salmon a rtc and a bunch of cichlids. before anyone flames me they are all fish that get held by lfs for me from people that cant care for them. he also loves crayfish but isnt a big fan of sunfish. and before anything becomes dinner thy all get qt for a week and fattened up while i subject them to a slew of medications from pimafix and melafix to copper sulfate salt and a few others Im forgetting.

They prefer little to no lite! So I wouldn't worry about that, and what's with all the chems u dose the feeders with? Is it to kill any possible parasites? Also a proper and healthy quarintine is 1-1.5 months. Just fyi

ya i usually qt for longer and i get most feeders for free or near free so i do overdose them with chemicals and have never had a problem with parasites(as i knock on wood) and i powerfeed to bulk them up quickly. my losses are very minimal especially considering the health of most fish i get. for lighting Im really leaning towards 4-36" "freshwater bright" leds by beamswork. i have a small clip on light on another tank that i used to test the brightness since it is a beamswork unit using 1w leds and i couldnt get coverage/brightness where i wanted and the blue is very intense in this style so i am going with more smaller units

Yea I run a small 18" led strip on my 4x24x18 and its enough imo. Too much lite and my shoal just gets angry..too much lite for my rhom and he hides

Bright lights come in handy if you're like me a never turn them on. Anytime the reds were fighting I'd flip it on and fights over. I've heard from others if you leave your lights on or run them on a timer your piranhas will get use to them and it stops bothering them. Must be nice to see ALL the colors that way

Lol. Good point. My shoal is on a timer, wake up at 730am and nite and 6pm, their used to the cycle and when the lites are off they get that evil look in their eyes
