I went to my aunts house to help her take down her 15 gallon because she wants to get out of the hobby. she ended up giving me the tank, stand, close to 15 different types of water treatments (ph up, down, clarification, etc.) a full box of decorations with about 45 different plants in it, siphon, tons of different types of food, 3 different filters with whole new boxes of media bag replacements, and another whole box of cleaning equipment, needless to say i wont have to buy much for a long while.

yeah! for 3 goldfish! idk why lol. but my fathers mom (rip) used to have a pretty big tank, i think it was between a 75 and 90 but i was too small to remember. but i know she got some of that stuff from my grandmaw. the thing that is good/kind of sucks, is that i just went and bought ammonia, nitrate, and nitrite kits today and she had all of that! and i was about to buy plants but luckily i waited. now im overstocked lol!
i am the oddball in the fam my whole fam has macaws and cockatoos and conures and amazons but i have fish LOLlol i know what you mean. noone in my family knows anything about fish like i do, not that i know much, but im starting to learn alot more, but my grandmaw always kept her tank amazingly clean but all my family ever kept was goldfish and i was like my oscars would eat your pets haha. but im not complainin i got alot of stuff that i could use! mom has a koi pond that i take care of so thats kind of fun but nothing like taking care of my o's 
Return the new stuff, it's expensive!!! Make sure the test kits given to you aren't out dated either, like expired. Congrats on all the goodies, it's always good to have extras laying around..
i would return the new stuff but i can probably use it! i wish all the plants still had the bags because literally i have a huge bag and a full box of plastic/silk plants. i think i might make a background for my 55 with all the plants, it will look good with the driftwood in front of it i think.
