so, ive been keeping fish for 20 years but have never gotton into the rift lake cichlids. until now. all i had available was a 40 gallon breeder, so i decided a dwarf mbuna tank would be right. I bought 7 Pseudotropheus Elongatus today all doing great. really my only question is if i can add another small species to the tank, or just keep a colony of Elongatus? so, can i add another species, and if so what?

You can add another group if you like. I keep mine with groups of acei, yellow labs, rustys, and polits. There all in a 55. The beauty of mbuna is that over stocking is the way to go. Just be sure to filter for your bio load and you can go nuts. As for other mbuna you have a lot of options. I would stay away from the hyper aggressive species though ie johanni kenyi ect.
