I will be picking up my 3 new bahia kelberi next weekend after i clear all my cichlids out of my 200. Can anyone give me tips on the "right" setup like water temp an ph? I see so many people have diff opinions.
I hear 85-87 degrees for under 6" an high ph.. the lfs told me currently they have them in a tank of 7.0 ph an 82 degrees.
they are about 3 -3.5 " an at what size do i change it to lower temp?

Temp 84+ and err on the higher sider
PH in the neutral range of 6.8 - 7.2 is fine IMO. If your water source is in this range you will be fine. I don't recommend using chemicals to change the PH bc it requires constant maintenance and can fluctuate so much depending on dosing and water changes. I believe that consistency is much more important then hitting a specific level. Clean water with low nitrates is the most important thing to work toward. Good Luck!

Well I have good water with low nitrates but I think my waters PH. Is normally higher like 7.8 - 8.0 naturally out of faucet

So is mine where I live, Add driftwood it will help drop the PH a bit, I also add salt to soften it as well...Just what I do. All my cichla are healthy and happy ;)

86degrees seems perfect to me...they are always happy!!!

Ask to see them eat when you pick them up. This way you will know exactly what they are eating and avoid the guessing game of what to feed them when you get them in your tank.
