Hey guys. I added a shoal of black bar silver dollars as a dither for the bigger fish and rays in my community tank. I’m just having a hard time finding out how big they’ll get and whether they can stay in there permanently. They are the Rio Orinoco locale with the thinner bar and red hook. They are growing quite rapidly so far and have gone from 1.5” to about 3” in about a month. Thanks!

Thin bar or wide bar? Makes a difference.

Thin. But from what I’ve been told the Rio Orinoco type are separate from the standard thin bars, I’m not sure how true that is though.

Not sure either. They were sourced from Columbia as far as i knew and the rio orinoco runs along the border. They should get about 6-8in.

Thanks! I’ve seen some places say 4-5”. Some 8”. 7-8” will be perfect.

No Myleus (or Myloplus) known stays at 4-5".
Thin bars (with red hook) stay smaller than wide bars with blue or black hook. 7-8" sounds about right.
Wide bars can get as large as 10" but usually don't in aquaria.
