I went to Big Willies vigil last nite. It was on a street the street racers have been using lately. It was a great turn out, soo many types came out, drag cars, drag bikes, street machines, motorcyle clubs, lowriders, gang members, street racers, go carts, all on a residential street in Compton. Its crazy what the neighbors put up with. The news came out and did a quick blurp also. Thank goodness there was a guy like Willie to preach peace, or "to settle beefs with wheels" it could have been utter mayhem, not that it wasnt a lot of the times.

Even found out Big Wille DID appear in my fav racing movie 2lane blacktop, his Daytona races and then my fav movie car the primered 55 Chevy races, It should have been the Daytona vs the 55! They dropped the ball on that one.

When the track briefly reopened in the 93, Id just turned 16 and got my license. My friends and I LIVED at Big Willies track for those two years. Very fond memories of racing there, it was
"Run whatcha brung and tow whatcha blow!!" Big Willie was the master of ceremonies and he was never a bore to listen to, from encouraging "female power" to racing for thousands of "hotdogs" it was a great environment.
