rip first pbass , what happened?

bought him 2 days ago . he was about 3 inches. He seem'ed healthy , have not gotten him to eat though.
I turned on the light just now to find him pale with his markings faded dying in the sand..

i had all baby version of arowana , rtc . temp is a little under 80

i have a 300w and 200w turned on max and i still cant get atleast 80, only a 90gallon.

Im using cover with small holes like mesh , could the heat be evaporating?

It definitely doesn't help. I have a 200 watt heater on my 40gallon and it heats to 86 with no problem. Room temp is about 68

ill put saran wrap on the top for now , see if the temperature goes higher. Dont want other fishies to die

Do you have a lid?? I use a 300w on my 180 and keep my tank at a steady 88. Check your heaters to make sure they work.

Glass is definitely better but it sounds like you may have a faulty heater
