Today is a sad day - my very unique Pink King Kong Parrot died after all my attempts to save him, his injuries were too bad.

The bad boy got his comeuppance after a long time of being the boss and peace keeper, he got in the was of my Black Shark (35cm) and my GT (25cm).

The evening prior to finding him i noticed a turf war starting but as usual i though it will be ok, the KK will stop anything bad happening, I woke the next morning to my Black Shark belting him round the tank like a toy, my KK's stress had turned him stiff, he was not swimming but breathing well, I noticed the BS stopping for a nibble, so I quarantined my KK, but it was already doomed, I looked at his side and there was massive scale damage...in the 3rd picture.

I will miss you Pinky, the only Pink KK Parrot I have seen in Australia, such a shame to loose you.

I am guessing the deformities and swimming problems associated with these hybrid fish stopped him from defending the speed of my Black Shark...raises the question, are they worth it, as beautiful as they are they are not ment to be here.

A TRIBUTE TO MY PINK KK PARROT......

R.I.P :( :( :( :( :( :(

Been there, done that.. Not a very pleasant experience to lose a fav fish..
The thing that I've learnt from experience is to never keep your most prized/favorite fish together with aggressive tankmates..
If you know that the KK has swimming problems due to deformity, why let him defend himself?? You should have separated them when you spotted any signs of distress..

Also, GT are very territorial fish..

My gt is currently missing a bottom lip after a scuffle with the kk.

regarding his deformity, as I said he was the boss of the tank so why would I think to protect the dominant fish....read my op, the usual happened it was no different to any other scuffle that happens in my tank.

All parrots are deformed...all parrots have swimming problems

This is an rip why be a jerk about it.

Thanks,I inherited him,I had a real dislike for hybrids, then after seeing the personality of this guy I couldn't help myself, and I got myself a flowerhorn.

He used to come to the surface and I could touch him while hand feeding.

Amazing fish, tough as nails, beauty and the beast all in one.
