to make a long story short
power went out while i was at work and i came home to a dead fishy!!!
he was nearly 5yrs old, 1' long and almost 2.5" wide. what made it worse is one of the canister filters lost prime and burnt up and when i went to get him out i broke the lid
yesterday was going good for the GF's B-day but when i got home it just sucked big....well you know.
my baby's gone:cry:
:swear:power outages blow so do the tropical depressions that cause them.

I'm not in an area where we lose power very often. Do the fish really die the same day power goes out just in the time it takes you to be a work? It's hard to believe the fish can't survive for half a day without power...sorry man, that sucks.

my guess was no air/ stress from thunder(vibrations)
all of the smaller ones 6" and under were fine
not sure it helped that he was older?
he was a rescue i took in when he was 6" he had it pretty rough when he was small this could have effected his life span as well...

Larger fish need more oxygen. No power means no surface agitation and less oxygen. Not to mention that no water flow through a canister can have some nasty consequences (anaerobic bacteria).
