I have an 18" ripsaw. I don't know groth rate since I've only had him a few weeks, but he/she doesn't bother with the tank mates.

I have a 10" rip-saw that is peaceful with..... well pretty much anything accept plants. They don't seem to grow that fast, 0.5" to 1" a month maybe. I really haven't been keeping track.

I have 2 at 12" they are grow slowers but mince are active since theres compition in there for food.not aggressive though

I appreciate the info. I just bought one that is about 5" put him in my 80 gallon with a green terror and pike cichlid. I want to let him get about 16 to 18 " before putting him in with my redtail cat in my 240. Any special food they seem to like. I know they are catfish so just about anything will be eaten. but just curious if anyone who owns one noticed a food preference?

Mine will eat any type of pellet that manages to get to the bottom. He also will eat shrimp/thawed silversides/peas etc. Mine has grown ~8" in 6 months FYI. Great fish but not very active if kept well fed.

I appreciate that. I have siversides, salmon, talapia, and frozen krill that my redtail eats. I figure I will start power feeding this guy when he starts to eat I have only had him one day.

When you say rip saw - do you mean Pseudodoras niger or Megalodoras irwini ?

Both get fairly large and will out grow anything shy of about 3,000 gallons.
