Found my silver Arowana dead this morning :( I was treating it for ich for the last 3 days with 83F temp and salt. As a side note, this Aro allowed me and my father to spend time together despite our busy schedules, something that we have not done in the last year or so. For the last 2 week, we would meet at home and just sit and watch this Aro.

What I find hard to understand is how I manged to get ich in my tank. It is a well-maintained 125 gallon, with 2 fluval 405s, and 25% water changed once a week. Water parameters are tested every morning.

Please take a look at the Aro's vid the night before it died and maybe you can hazard a guess on how bad its condition was as of last night.

:( :( :(

looks like he had some pretty bad fin rot..sorry for your loss

Definitely fin rot. I don't see any signs of icy though, but maybe some kind of fungus growth on the tail...But you live and you learn. If you've only had the fish for 2 weeks it's probably not your fault, and that young they are very fragile to begin with. Try another arowana, but this time pick out the healthiest one at your lfs. Best of luck :).

That sucks JV. Sorry to hear that bro. You were treating the wrong symptom but live and learn and trial and error, it happens. If that aro got you and your dad that close I highly recommend getting another one. That's some good news for you and your dad....... on a side note, no matter how clean your water is a tank will always have ick

The LFS I got the Aro from was feeding the fish with live feeders. I tried to get it off of feeders but from time to time I had give it live fish. It all started with Ich then next thing I noticed was the tail rot. Mind you, this all happened in a matter of 2.5 days. I highly suspect the feeder I got from the store.

Thank you all. At my old age, I never thought I'd still get attached to a fish. :D

Do you test water params with something other then the ammonia alert shown in the video?

Yes sir. I have a test kit that I use every 2 days.

I always had the pH level between 7.0 and 7.5 Is this too much for an Arowana?
