I am not sure what happened I have replayed everything that I did to the tank last night and I can't understand why they are dead.

Drained tank 50%

Neted out my 8" JD that was harassing everyone, this scared the fish but no one jumped and hurt themselves.

added 23ml of prime refilled tank.

Cleaned algae out of sump with the water in the sump.

Removed the large umberall tree from the tank as the roots where taking over.

Emerged the roots of two rose plants in the tank.

Watched everyone swim until lights out.

Wake up Missing my friends.

Sorry to hear this.

Did you check the params of the tank? Was anything off? Ammonia spike is the only thing I could think of that might be the cause of this but not sure what would have cause it.

It sucks losing large Balas. I lost one during a water change almost a year ago. It was the same size as yours, maybe slightly bigger.

sorry for your loss.

sorry for your loss

Parameters? x 2

do you have sand? Maybe you released some built up gas by removing the tree. Not sure/

I do have sand, the tree was only immersed with the roots only in the water, however I can't rule out gas as I did disturb it when trying to catch the JD.

Oh man, really sorry for your loss. I have a big bala myself, so I can imagine how you must feel right now.

Actually, if you didn't know, some species of rose are slightly poisonous. Take shrub roses or the wild floribundas you can find in the woods for instance. When you poke yourself on the thorns, it swells and burns much more than with some of the other varieties like the hybrid tea varieties.
