River gravel?

I was wondering how red gravel from a river would work in a tank and what benefits it would have if any? (plus its free)

i dont know what kind of gravel it is but ive put all sorts of rocks and things form nature into my tanks over the years and as long as i boiled it all firts ive never had any problems. i dont know of and advantages except its free.

Should be OK, just give it a real good cleaning.

Main advantages.. it's red and it's free.

i use just pea gravel. i would worry about the source. is the river contaminated?
