i have access to a large river with many flat stones and was wondering if taking some of them and putting them in my tank wiould hurt my cichlids alot of it is grey clay and other is just large flat river rock i would like to build a few flat stone cave for them with it will the clay or other stone hurt my fish?

There are a couple of types of stone that have "bad things" in them...

Granite is the only local stone I've found that I cannot / will not use in my tanks... Granite tends to have arsenic in it... who would of thought right?

plz explain choices on the poll. i need advise on this subject

I took Rocks from a local beach. Boiled the heck outta each one and had them with my Africans for over a year with no problems. Did the same with grey slate. I would do it......I did do it! :D
