I searched around and can't find what I'm looking for. Can anybody direct me to a good rectangular river tank design? like for trout...

Thank you very much. I guess i just searched the MFK forums. That's just what i needed though :D

Oh, my bad :)
I'm looking at making a brook trout tank, so I'll get some pics going when I start it :)

I'm also looking at setting up a river type aquarium but an asian river instead. But I prefer more of a simple set up with very limited equipment in the tank. The only way I can think of achieving the one way flow would be a canister filter with intake at one end and output at the other. Do you guys think that would work also?

Or do you have any other suggestions?

I also thought of just a powerhead at one end but would this render my current hob filter less efficient?

I'm going to use a canister, but also use it to run through a DIY chiller. I'll also have powerheads like in the link. Brookies are pretty high flow, so I think I can achieve that.

That's a very cool concept/tank design. Post some pics when your up and running. Even in the beginning stages. I would love to see the full cycle/DIY.

If you were able to drill the tank you could do what a lot of people are doing now with reef systems. You can put in a closed loop where you can suck from one end and have the return enter at the far end, and a few assist spots along the way to help move the current along. And you could use a large pump like a Hammerhead to pump 2500 gph to create the fast flow of the water. that way you only have 1 pump and have up to 4 pushing spots.
