I have a four stage RO/DI unit. The unit has a blue line for the RO/DI water and a red line for waste water. From what I understand the red line is dechlorinated and most of the metals and minerals have been taken out, it's just not DI. Is this true? If it is it seems to me that the red line is more than likely better quality water than tap water. What do you think? I am currently using this unit for the discus tank.

Good question! I have never thought about this, but it is a good idea. I would think that the waste water would have an extremely high TDS (depending on your water source), but will still have passed through a carbon filter. I will re-route the waste water for my RO unit later and measure all that stuff and let you know. My thoughts is that it would be perfect for a tang tank though!
