I live in Florida and my waters pretty hard. The pH out of the tap is a consistent 7.8
Looking for suggestions for a inexpensive RO/DI system to provide water for my tanks. I found this one. http://www.freedrinkingwater.com/ro-counter-detail.htm
On the plus side it would provide me with better drinking water but have been considering one for just my tanks. The LFS sells RO water for 2.68 a gallon and with how often I have been doing my water changes that cost will add up in a year. About $500 bucks a year.
Tanks are 75 gal, 20 gal, 10 gal and 2 gal.
Is there a better way to control pH levels? I have heard that chemicals are only temporary and can cause many issues and headaches.
Planted tanks maybe? Is it true that you can soften the water with some plants?
I will eventually be making my 75 and 20 planted but can't right now with out the proper lighting.
