I use the RO waste water for my mom's garden, and it's been flourishing. Can I use it for a planted tank? It's far more concentrated in nutrients that plants appreciate, if I'm not mistaken. The only fish I have are cardinal tetras and otocinclus.

I may be wrong, but wouldn't the waste water also have chemical residual..like Cl2 and lead/murcury etc?...I have never tested my RO effluent...but I never saw the need..

Would the waste water also not be lacking the minerals that need to be replaced with water changes? It's the same reason its not ideal to use waste water as a water change on other tanks.

Yeah, I'll probably avoid it. I may convert it into a crystal shrimp tank too, and they love clean water.
