So I have very hard water that unfortunately calcifies my cichlid eggs too fast, so they cannot hatch because of the harden shell. I have recently purchased a Ro/Di unit and made 10 Gallons of water. The water is sitting in a 10g tank, with glass canopy, heater and an air stone to circulate and agitate the water surface.
I have a breeding pair of CA cichlid that is going to breed soon..could be tomorrow, could be in a week or two. I've added some 'Kent R/O right' to add back in minerals/vitamins into the 10 gallons tank that has the ro/di water. My question is, how long is RO/DI water in the ten gallon good for? I will be taking out the clay pot that the cichlids will be laying the eggs on and putting it into this 10 gallon with softer water so the eggs will hatch. But i'm unsure when they will lay, so will the water be good for up to 2 week with just he air stone?
