I have a 5 stage RO system that was given to me from a friend who sold me his saltwater set up about 1.5 years ago. I decided it was time to replace the filters in the RO system (overdue, really).
I purchased all 5 filters, and replaced them. I had one elbow on the stage 4 (RO membrane) that did not want to let go of the plastic tubing, and it ended up breaking. I went to the hardware store and bought another (not elbow).
After starting everything back up, I hear it working as the water is draining into my kitchen drain. I let it run for a few hours, and the tank did not refill, and it's still draining.
I started to troubleshoot the system and I found that there isn't any water coming out of the stage 4 RO membrane, only the drain. I thought this was strange, and I took it apart and examined it. I couldn't see anything wrong. Thinking it was my filter I swapped my old one back in. Same issue.
This is where the elbow fitting was that broke. So, I removed the old elbow and noticed it looks like it has a check valve in it. To isolate the issue, I replaced the elbow with another straight through, without a check valve.
I hooked it back up, but there isn't any water coming out of it. Just the drain side, and it's pretty steady.
I really have no idea what to do with this thing now, as it's my first real experience dealing with this.
I would appreciate any suggestions!
