I have terrible well water, thinking of buying a RO unit to combat my water issues store water in a couple 55 borrows I have (need cleaned out very good) fill maybe 3 of them per week. Anyone using this system and what unit to you recommend and why please??

I also have well water, and use RODI to reduce TDS to zero before adding a bit of hardness back (via Seachem Equilibrium). My unit is from AirWaterIce.com, and I love it - it’s modular, user-serviceable, media is inexpensive, and customer support is great. The units have a lifetime warranty.

It been years since I have messed with my own system however one of the most important features is the efficiency rating, how many gallons of input are needed to achieve a gallon of output. A couple 55s filled on a 3 to 1 unit would take over 300 gallons of input. The more efficient the higher the cost and possible shorter service times depending on the system.

Which one did you get??

I bought a Neptune about 20 years ago for saltwater use. It has 6 canisters and 2 membranes, possibly overkill for freshwater, but it does give you flexibility for dealing with well water - e.g. you might need more sediment filtering, less carbon, more DI. As for the RO, with two 150gph membranes at 65psi input pressure it takes about 6 minutes to produce a gallon. I’ll admit I don’t know the wastewater ratio, could be important if your well has limited output.
