This has probably been brought up many times but is ro water good or bad? i know there are some good and some bad things about it except with finiky fish like discus i know ro is best but when it comes to fish that live in dirtier water in the wild is ro really good for them?

Beside taking out "dirt" RO also takes out minerals that are essential to most fishes osmotic regulation. There are very few fish that come from a mineral free environment, in fact if you were to keep fish from the rift lakes, or Central America, some of that water is considered liquid rock, and RO would put undue stress on those fish. Tap water with a chlorine/chloramine remover is much more healthy for fish than RO.

Start thinking RO if water comes from well and very hard, and you trying to keep / breed fish needing soft water. If use RO, please not use pure RO water, but mix some non-RO-treated water back with RO water, to get desired water parameters.

Just use an HMA filter, basically an RO without the membrane and the wastefulness.
This is what most ray keepers use on their drip systems.
