Not sure if anyone even noticed I was gone a couple weeks. Drove from Seattle to Portland then cut east to Yellowstone Wyoming for 7 days, starting August 9th. August 16th we went north to Swan Lake Montana for a week with my mom's side of the family, then cut west back to Seattle yesterday.

Logged 2393.4 miles (plus 150 on the odometer right now) and went through 36.662 gallons of gas (that's 35.79mpg average if anyone cares). Drove a 1994 Ford Escort, which held up surprisingly well seeing as I replaced the cylinder head with one from a junkyard a week before we left.

My biggest expense was gas, of which I spent $158.39. Then came fishing licenses and lures $107.36 (10 days fishing in Montana...$53.36, 7 in Yellowstone...$20). We lived off of $100 of Costco food for the week in Yellowstone, which was paid for by my roommates mother. Then the week in Montana was paid for by my mom's family, so food expenses were ~$35 for food on the road. Camping spots in Yellowstone $37. So, two weeks adventure for right around $300. Can't beat that. Especially since I quit my job to go on this trip...

First, the start of the trip. Seattle to Portland to Yellowstone.

Dinner in Portland. $8 steak dinner...no minors.

Yes, Jesus is sitting on the steps. Not a happy Jesus either.

Southern Idaho is a terrible place.

Now some geysers. Cool, but once you've seen one you've seen them all. LOTS of people.

Favorite sign ever

100_2607.jpg

Mammoth Hot Springs...which is 90% dry now, which they fail to inform people. Big letdown.

Hiked the Lamar River Valley for a day. I stopped counting at 70 cutthroat. Probably around 85 myself for the day.

100_2574.jpg

Found this elk skull

100_2576.jpg

My fishing gear. I like to tell the fly fisherman in their little expensive outfits how many fish I catch and watch their looks of disbelief.

100_2585.jpg

We lost the trail on the way out. Trying to get out following a bison trail.

100_2586.jpg

Bear track.

Now for the week in Montana...

100_2644.jpg

Little brother kayaking.

sweet pix
what camera?
you keep the skull?
lol

Camera is a POS Kodak with no optical zoom. Really kicking myself for not dropping the money for a DSLR for this trip.

Wish I could have kept the skull, that's poaching though in a National Park.

nice man i was out in yellowstone my self in mid july, i actually brought a fly rod but my spinning gear worked just as well and racked up a ton of fish
i fished the fire hole river and gibbon mostly

caught a ton of cutthroat a few grayling and millions of browns all i have to show from it is a few small browns because my mom wasted alot of pictures on geysers and really once you have seen one youve seen them all

alot of wildlife lots of bison, one rammed my uncles trailer in the campground

lot of bald eagles huge elk and a unpleasant encounter with a big black bear and her cub while i was out relieving myself in the middle of the night, i would of peed my pants if i wasnt already pissing
