i saw this universal background for my tank but it was $100. does anyone know of a place maybe online where they aren't as expensive

They have great customer service and many of their smaller backgrounds are very reasonably priced. Remember, you might find them cheaper some other places but a lot of other stuff is really poor quality. Do your research before you order.
