So I have a rock bass that appears to have columnaris bacteria. I have been treating with aquarium salt for some time and he seemed to be feeling better so I discontinued the salt. Well he got way worse with the flashing and white cloudy skin. Also, my brown bullhead looked like his skin was dying off. It was turning white. The rock bass developed a few raised scales with a brown almost clay looking stuff underneathe it. I immediately started treating with salt and his raised scales went away and his white splotches got better. I have tried using Pimafix and Melafix together and they have done nothing. Any ideas?

Seems to be doing better with a little extra salt added. I think I need an additional treatment of something to permanently get rid of it though.

If you really believe it is bacterial you can use furan-2/bifuran as it is pretty safe. If you know it is columnaris or something internal use kanamyacin but that comes with more risks. Otherwise just keep up with the clean water and salt
