Rock bass

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Yes a friend tried it in his 125g, he put 4 Rockbass and 3 BlackCrappie in the tank and the Rockbass bullied the Crappie to near death; I personally wouldn't attempt it unless I had a large tank with good structure in it , Rockbass are one of the most aggressive Centrarchids.

210 heavy driftwood collected from local waters to replicate their natural scape. I'm looking to get sculpins, darters, shiners as well as the larger more aggressive panfish. Hopefully I can provide enough structure that the small fish and crayfish can live with no true concern of them disappearing in one day lol

The size should work especially with the Driftwood in the tank; I would get the biggest Shiners, Logperch (where legal) and Sculpins you can find, both Rockbass and Crappie can eat a lot and will wipe out a 210g full of minnows in a couple of weeks. One option would be to breed Mosquitofish, Blackworms and Scuds to supplement pellets with live food nutrition.

I have a 72G bowfront, with a Juvenile rock bass, black crappie, 3 pumpkinseeds and 2 juvenile yellow perch. The fish get along pretty well, but the rock bass does have his attitude. I will be upgrading to fit his requirements. he is a bit nippy but the fish keep him inline. My tank is also heavily planted and lots of driftwood so the fish have plenty of structure.

well maybe you didn't have enough structure to provide enough territory (mainly for the rockbass) and maybe you didn't have enough space for the two.
