Rock bass?

Is this an older rock bass? Caught out of a tiny creek where I usually catch a ton of juvenile rock bass but never anything this big.. Brought it home and have it in a QT tank I'll get some pics of it once it's settled in

That's not a rock bass. It's a Lepomis species but let's wait to see the pictures of the fish when it is settled down.

I don't have pics yet, but I think I've figured it out. What I've been calling a pumpkinseed all my life is actually a longear, and the fish I caught today is actually a pumpkinseed. I brought specimens of both home and the side by side comparison has helped a lot I'll get pics up soon

Are you talking about the fish in picture being a pumpkinseed?

Yeah I am to me it looks like the picture. To me it looks almost identical to this picture I found online of a pumpkin

The sunfish you called pumpkinseed....is not a pumpkinseed. What you have is a hybrid green. And the chub is a creek chub.
