It is a metamorphic rock, made up of rearranged crystals of igneous materials, containing mainly micas, schist and quartz. Safe for your aquarium, it will not dissolve or affect pH.

Gneiss (metamorphic rock, inert), should be fine. The vinegar test is not reliable as a test for dangerous minerals. Regular limestone will bubble with vinegar as well.
Agree with points above, including limestone and vinegar. Plenty of limestone in my area, I use some in my tanks. I suppose if you kept your water acidic enough it could have an affect, but not neutral or higher. Also, a lot of rocks have some iron in them, both some igneous rocks and sedimentary rocks like limestone. I've used some orange-streaked rocks with no issues at all, not to mention my well water with iron in it.
