Is it okay to use rock salt from the grocery store for aquarium salt? Is there any differance between that and the salt they sell in pet stores?

Rock salt is sodium chloride (NaCl). The saltwater mixes have other salts and buffering agents that are found naturally in SW, the most abundant of which (besides NaCl) is potassium chloride (KCl). I'd advise using a SW mix in lesser quantity to arrive at the desired specific gravity (SG).

dont be cheap, buy the right stuff. risking your fish's lives isnt worth it.

Use aquarium salt. You cut corners, it costs you in the long run.

i wouldnt man
buy the generic brand of marine tank salt if you are worried about cost.

BW is made with marine salt, period. It is the streams between the FW lakes & the ocean.
