Rocks are a big complication for me. Anywhere you get them is not safe. they don't speak: I have iron, I'm toxic. You see, some rocks \ stone are filled with crack, (usually there the nicest one) and when there in an aquarium, with time (usually 8 months), they can become toxic because they get filled with secretion from fish poo.

What i did....Cleaning anything is one way only for me, (they easy way) I use small amount off chlorine, leave it for min 1 day in water to kill anything and drying it. I did that on my old gravel and added new subgravel after.

For cleaning rock\stone, no scrubbing, I dish washer it, with a small amount off chlorine, make cher its at hot boiling water. Then boils theme to kill any living thing. No cooking, to much rish to damage the rock and you stove from explosion.
Chlorine his safe and an affectif way to kill anything if you are not gonna use it for 2 weeks, or your gonna make a new thank.

Need solution.....Solution long terme is a clear coating on the Rock, now what to use is a mystery for me. Some say epoxy like (acrylic epoxies) or (Everfix Epoxy Resin) is the safest way. Some use polyurethane, some Varathane, some latex like (Water-based latex),some acrylate. What to use?

Off course I\whey all don't want side effect, no gloss effect, no foggy effect, plain clear. For me I have a paint shop maybe something in there will do. But I guest, speaking for many, there want fiu alternative?

For a fact, resin and paint cans is not recommended.
Hope i did my research right?

If your rocks are just getting really dirty in your tank just remove them and scrub them clean .I would never cover them in any chemicals like epoxy or varathane or whatever that stuff is toxic.

Yea but hes on to something. It would be easier to coat the rock. Why don't you give him suggestions instead of blowing him off like crisper?

I am not trying to say that anomic's thread is not important. I just don't understand the point of sealing rocks.
