I always thought these"gars" stayed small,but i read where they can grow to 28 inches.Why are they called Gars at every LFS??

in the wild they get more than 2 feet.
in captivity rarely above 12 inches.
grow slow.
generally non aggressive.
ive trained them to eat pellets.

very laid back species from brief experience with them, not particularly aggressive. I never got them off feeders though
I consider them to be ''***'' gars. They aren't really gars there charcins and they can often be fin nippers.
