friend of mine gave me some aquarium rocks and peiceof bog wood the wood is really big and i would love it in my tank but he shut his tank down like 6 months ago and just let the wood and rocks sit on shelf in his basement and did not clean them befor putting them there , they are covered in dry algee. My question is how to clean them properly so they dont hurt my tank i am scared to put them in .. I thought about boiling them in aquarium salt . is that right or wrong ?? please make some sugestions .

thanks brett

Boil what you can, if the bogwood is to big to boil use Hot water an a pot scrubber to clean it.

Howdy,

If it's about cleaning algae off, I'd go to a carwash and use a high pressure cleaner...

Boiling will help to waterlog driftwood. Salt is not needed, after 6 months out of the water the wood should not need to be sterilized anymore.
