rocks and sand from home depot

maby? i went to lowes and got me small river rocks. they just need extra cleaning
its alot cheaper too i got like 100 lb for my 125 gal was like 30 bucks

two of my friends have used the rocks from home depot. There's a bit of soil in the bag so they need to be rinsed well.
I use pool filter sand in some of my tanks from Home Depot and a bunch of the mexican beach stone..
I used playsand in my tank. I had to rinse it out well, but it was more than enough to fill a 40 breeder, and it was only like $5
Sure it`s safe to use.
Just a good cleaning, as was already said.
If I was you, I wouldn`t limit myself to the rock available at HD/Lowes.
Check the phonebook for a landscape supply yard near you.
Great prices and allot better selection of rock.
On your choice of sand, if you have fish that will get the sand bed stirred up, playsand can be a bit of a pain.
The fish will thrash around, dig and spit, and that fine sand could get into your filters.
I chose pool filter sand because of it`s weight.
My Africans can get nuts with it and it just sinks back down.
