Hello everyone, I have my 110g up and running, now I'm trying to figure out what to use for rocks/caves. I was thinking about using poly resin or ceramic rocks as an alt to real ones for less weight, and less water disposition. Any ideas on what to use, the tank is an older style and the glass is very thick so weight shouldn't really be a problem, just would like more water to actually be in the tank, thanks for any help

I've never used resin or ceramic rocks before, but in my 110g Mbuna tank I have lava rock pieces I got from a landscaping store. They stack great and make it easy to build caves and other hiding spots.

For fake rocks I like cichlid stones because they are cheaper then most and displace almost no water. cichlidbreeding.com or amazon are good places for cichlid stones. The more realistic fake stones are way too much money, imo.

I would still suggest using real rocks though, I donno where Spartacus finds rocks in FL, but your in NJ and even if you buy them from a landscaping store they are dirt cheap. I bought over 100lb of softball sized rock for $25, $15 of it was from 3 basketball sized rocks.

Cool, yes I agree that the fake rocks are way too much money and don't look as nice as real rocks. I'll go with real, now just to decide on what type to use. I've used lava, fiji "dead" live rock, and slate in the past. I use crushed coral for substrate, so was thinking of something more neutral or darker for contrast, as I think light or white color rocks with a white substrate would be way too bright. Thanks again for the feedback
