I found some rocks near my house and decided to try a few out. I tested them with vinegar and then boiled them for about an hour. They look similar to others that I have seen used, but I want to make sure.

My tank is currently cycling with some tetras, so I guess they will let me know if they are not safe. I have a couple more rocks that are the same type that will go on the opposite end of the tank. They will be hiding spots for my JD when I put him in the tank.

Can someone tell by the pics if they look ok?

Almost any natural rock is fine for CA's. The vinegar test is to determine rocks that may make your water hard and alkaline. For some fish that is a bad thing, but for CA's it's actually good. CA's come from slightly hard/alkaline to extremely hard/alkaline waters.

(Long way of saying "you're fine!")
