Rocks ok to use?

I was out at my brothers a couple days ago and he has lots of rocks on his property. I picked up a few in hopes of using them in one of my tanks. I scrubbed the dirt off and tried the vinegar test, didn't see any obvious fizzing. Going to soak them for a few days or so in hot water, changing the water every day. Do they look ok to you guys, any ideas what they are? Thanks.

I have collected rocks for my tanks for years. I have never had any trouble. Wash them in hot water and scrub them with soap and they should be fine

Got any better pics? It should be fine to use if you already checked everything and you soaked it in water

I think the only rocks you need to worry about is Limestone and that doesn't look like Limestone.

I have never had issues with rocks I have found outdoors. I mean as long as you clean the up well then you should be golden. I always scrub mine and then soak them in boiling water and then scrub them again, rinse them and then just soak them in hot water for a few hours and then add them in.

Did you do the vinegar test as those rusty looking vanes could be a problem.

Poppalina - yes I did the vinegar test and didn't see anything.. I can try again though to make sure, they are soaking right now at home. The pic did make them look a lot more orange than they really are, they are really various shades of brown - crappy phone camera anyway.

You should be ok, that is some nice looking rock. Post pics when they are put in the tank.
