what do you guys think of putting sandstone rocks in the tank? I currently have and for many years used regular rocks from the creekbed, just wondering about sandstone rubbing off and affecting water quality. thanks for your help

I've never used sandstone in any of my tanks, so can't give my personal opinion on this, but I found this online:

"Sandstone is made of sand grains cemented together and it's mostly safe
stuff. The cementing material in some sandstone is calcite, which again
isn't particularly good for an aquarium unless you actually want your
hardness and alkalinity drifting upwards. You might want to give it the
acid test; a sandstone cemented with calcite will fizz under a drop of
strong acid."

*here's the link where this info came from, seems it was from a geologist that also keeps fish http://fins.actwin.com/fish/aquatic-plants/month.200107/msg00298.html

I personally like to stick with Lace, Lava, and/or Texas Holey Rock, but I know these are tougher to come by & usually expensive.

best of luck, let us know if you end up using some & what happens, hopefully nothing negative.
