Get your rocks from a landscaping store. If you buy from a fish store they'll charge you at least 10 times more! My local landscaping store charges 25-75 cents per kg and my lfs charges $4-$6 per lb! Big difference in cost for the identical rock. Make sure you thoroughly boil and scrub the landscaping rocks cause who knows where they've been.

As far as what type to buy, go with whatever will look good but don't buy limestone. It'll both raise your PH and harden your water.

Here's a video of my 90g AC tank. The rocks are granite flagstone

or easier yet, take a couple of 5 gallon buckets to your neariest local stream and pick out the ones you want yourself. thats what i did and it was more fun to pick the ones myself

I bought all my rocks at a local landscaping company. It was unbelievably cheap, saved me tons of money. I never knew how much money people are wasting buying rocks at their LFS until I went to the landscaping company. Good luck.

River rock is great to use for an mbuna tank. Go to your local "KRC rock" type store. Google KRC rock, it's a San Diego based rock supplier for landscapers.

there is a building material supplier close to me sale 20 different kind of rocks. I'm looking for some to deco my tank as well. But no ideal what kind of rock will look good in the tank. Anyone have pics or ideal ?

I prefer rounder, smoother stones as so lessen injuries.

If you raise the pH on AC that will be no problem.

Lava rock will look good
