That's a nice setup but I'm afraid it's too deep for a juvi Alligator Snapper. In the wild they live in shallow water where they don't have to waste energy swimming to the surface to breath. They like to be able to just stretch their necks up to the surface. 150 gallon tank doesn't have a very large footprint but you can still use that tank. If I were you I would make some shelves out of slate that are a few inches below the water line so your turtle can breath with ease.

:iagree: sweet set-up though
i have put a shelf in before. and he will get air from their. but he jumps down to hide on the bottom. he climbs up onto the driftwood to get air now. hes eating normal and acting as usual.

That's because he has to. ;) In the wild he wouldn't be in this position because he wouldn't be living in water this deep. Your other tank was much better because it was shallower. I know you really love this turtle so you have to consider what's best for him and not what's pleasing to the eye.

ya, hes a fatass. and needs to loose some weight. once he gets skinny ill know i need to do somthing lol (ima be hard headed) =) he wedges himself between the top right heater and driftwood and sits their and gets air. i think ima make somthing like a shelf if he starts having trouble.

The tank looks beautiful...for now lol. Just wait and see what he does to the decor once he's bigger :) Mine has a gravel and river stones, that's it. Plus I want the least possible leverage against the lid lol
