Thinking about making a trip to Rocky Mountain Discus Hatchery in Indiana to buy my last 4 Discus. Is there anyone with experience with these guys? The trip is 5hrs, but we would just be making a road trip on the weekend for fun. Everything on the net looks good. Need info.

I haven't personally bought through them but in the online discus community they're pretty highly regarded - I've heard nothing but good things from customers.

You may have more luck at http://www.simplydiscus.com with this question - I believe the owner of the company posts there regularly, as well as all the other breeders in the states.

EDIT:

If you look at their page, the dedication placed into explaining every strain of discus is a compliment to how passionate these guys are about the hobby.

I don't know if it's the deep pockets discus breeders have or how delicate the fish themselves are - but the care they provide for their fish and knowledge they have is pretty astounding.

I have heard good things about them, but I don't particularly like their strains. I really like, and have had good success with Great Lakes Discus, and Mac's Discus. Both have very good quality fish, and some beautiful lines. GLD has some of the best White butterflies out there.

If you go there, please take photos of his place(if allowed) and post them here. It would be interesting to see his set up. Thanks.

I am located in Indianapolis, but I have never made it down there yet. There is a breeding in Bloomington, Indiana too. Rainforest Farms International is the name of the place I believe. I never been there yet, but I know he has other fish too and plants.
