Hey guys,
I just got into fishing last summer and was using one of my friends' rod/reels, but I'm looking to get my own for this summer. The place that we usually fish has Black Crappie, Bluegill, Common Carp, Largemouth Bass, Muskie, Northern Pike, Rainbow Trout, Smallmouth Bass, Walleye, and Yellow Perch. I'm looking for a good versatile rod and reel. My friend suggested a Shimano Compre for a rod and the Shimano Sahara for a reel. Any thoughts? Suggestions? I was also looking at the Pflueger President reel.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!

Can't say much about that rod but the reel is good. I would go with a stratic or sustain if they are within your price range. My favorite spinning rod right now is my sustain on a 7' medium/heavy carrot stik.

Yikes! I don't know if I can drop $160-$300 on a reel. I was looking more on spending <$200 on rod/reel together, haha. I wish I could spend that kind of money for the reel. Thank you for the reply though!:headbang2

if you go to the bass pro shop you cold read the review to the rod/reals.last year i b ought the abu garcia vendetta an put on a shimano symetre 2500 fi i think i pay 160 to 180 and i love it deffinetly good for the money

I use a Bass Pro Shops spinning reel. Forget what type, but it was only $50, and works great! For rods, I use an Ugly Stik, along with and Abu Garcia Ultracast. Both 4'
