been seeing a lot of that lately
makes sense,
rats are health problem in the area and the population appears to have increased drastically recently
the logical result of that is to put out rat poison
the problem is that rats are smart so the rat poisons are quite palateable to pets
the most commonly used is an anticoagulant interferes with clotting
symptoms in a pet can be very nonspecific at first
the good news is that it is completely treatable
early on induce vomitting,
then get them to the vet for baseline cbc and vitamin k injection
even pets who get missed until they have obviously been losing blood can be saved with a whole blood transfusion

amazing how fast a dog can snarf down a block of that stuff
also amazing how many people deny the possiblity until a few days later or lol
the kid rats them out
"uh uh grand ma there was some in the closet and she ate it"
I'd like to be more detailed and scientific sounding but it's past my bedtime
just be aware that this one is pretty common
