When you set up a tank do you get everything that tank needs?

or do you do like me & procrastinate getting that double light ballast for your 20G and throw the 30G fixture on it, because the 30G is not up & running and the light isn't being used, so you figure let's use that right now. lol
2- 100W heaters rated for a 10 in a 20G... madness like that:ROFL:
How bout 3- 10 Gallon Fixtures on a 72" 150G just because the 72" bulb is a :irked: to replace $-wise (no plants, just needed some light) but you still have the 72" fixture but these 3- 10G aren't doing anything (So you use em). Sometimes you don't want to shell out that $50 for a light that day. Might wanna go get the new Kratos game. Between filter media, light bulbs, heaters, precious time and Elec&Watt there are some expenses that keep me from making my tanks 100% sometimes.
When I started out I started small and was able to aquire all the equipment needed for my tanks; 10G up to 55G. Now that I'm older and a lil more apprehensive of spending $, I realized my tanks look like rodeo clowns.:WHOA: All mixed up and stuff, they simply just don't match. My own Aquatic Mosaic of Madness.
I've had fish so long, I know that as long as the water is clean your fish will be more or less fine. I guess what i'm realizing is I've become a cheap ass. Some of the aesthetics in making your fish tanks appear nice in a fish room has taken a back seat, as some stuff I'd like to get is not necessary. If i had all the $'s needed I'd get it in a heartbeat. However, as we all know stuff's not cheap but I have many tanks and none look the way they are supposed to.
What's really bad is i'd likely set up another if a "must have" fish or a free tank crosses my pond.:screwy:
