Do I need ro or rodi water for keeping discus? Since I have a rodi system already and I had read some research that said they need low ph and gh. I am living in Canada and the ph is 7.6 and gh is 7,8 from the tap in my house.

From what I understand you might need it for a short time when breading and raising fry. But generally you do not need it. Stable PH and very clean water are what you need.

Never keep fish in deionised (DI) water (the DO phase of RODI). Reverse osmosis (RO) water is fine and often used, but DI water will slowly sicken/kill your fish by leeching electrolytes from their body. You should never drink DI for the same reason, though it is unlikely to kill an adult human. Drinking RO is fine, BTW.

You mean stable PH is dont let it go too low or too high right? I know dirty water can bring down the PH right?

Most Discus keepers try to stick with what comes out of the tap. The fish can adapt to anything within reason. Most of the experienced keepers also do a LOT of water changes. Many change 50% or more a day until the fish are grown. Adapting the fish to your tap water saves a lot of time and money trying to adjust the PH. Messing with PH sometimes turns into a never ending battle of ups and downs. The fast fluctuations are generally more stressful than adapting to the tap PH. It is also a good idea to age, let it set for 24 hours, then check the PH to see where you are at. This will give you a better idea if your PH is actually way off or not. If you have an RO filter they can also lower the PH some but might not.

An exception might be of you keep wild caught fish. But most slowly acclimate them to the tap PH also.

Keeping fish in just RO can be harmful in a freshwater aquarium unless you add back the trace elements the fish need. Would not apply to saltwater because the salt mixture has the needed trace elements in it.

Is it possible that to keep discus and IT or NTT datnoids together?

I have never heard of that combination. My first thought is no but you might want to ask some of the experts on one of the discus sights.

I think I should stick with the tap then and like u guys said it is save time and money lol. By the way what kind of substrate I should get for the discus? I planning to get a 65 gallon with some driftwood in it and background picture on the back but not going add any plant.
