I've had my 55 gallon aquarium set up for 2 months now and all the fish have gotten along fine for 2 months, all of a sudden my Senegal bichir has killed 3 fish in 3 days. he used to keep to himself bottom dwelling but now he acts like hes king of the tank and he swims around the top attacking any fish near him. the only thing that has changed in the past 2 months is he got one of the feeders for my other fish, now he is very aggressive. What can I do to solve this problem?

Bichirs are predators in the wild, and if your fish fits in your bichirs mouth, then the bichir is probably a lot bigger than the fish being eaten. Put in something bigger(a medium sized SA/CA cichlid would work in a 55g) so the bichir can't eat it.

ummm....keep him well fed.seems to me that he "got the taste of blood". This is complitally IMO but i would say try to find a food he likes more than fish. Try a bunch of new foods to get him unhooked with fish. if that doesnt work keep him fed well so hes not hungry for fish.If it all fails then u might have to move him to another tank

in 2 of the cases the fish were bigger than the bichir, he rips their fins off and just kills them, doesnt eat them, i had him on shrimp pellets normally but then he got a feeder that was for my needlenose and hes been after my fish since

u can try hikari carnivore pellets they seem to prevent my bichir from killing my tetras (they're quick though). Any food that has a strong smell will attract the bichir. i think beef heart will work too
