well, sucks living in so cal. with the summer heat and rolling blackout a regular, i got a letter in the mail today stating that on august 1 from 9am - 3pm, i should be expecting no electricity while they are doing some maintenance. i am worry about the fishes. think they will be okay (worst case scenerio) have no electricity for 6 hours??? any precautions? bad thing is i wont be home.

I been hearing about that on the news.We had rolling blackouts here in Ft. Worth(Tx) at the begining of summer.Luckily, our power was only out for 2 or 3 hours. But definitely do a water change beforehand and try to come up w/ a way to keep the water moving and keep it oxygenated while the power is out.GOOD LUCK!!

where do you live in so. cal.? that's tough. i hope i won't get any. :( the heat is just killin so. cal. these past few days. i hated saturday!!! 110F and very humid! my aircon can't put the temp down to 78 it only went as low as 86. :)

i am in 626 area. well, at least this time they actually sent me a postcard saying i will have no power. big waterchange the night before what i am plannin on doing but just wanted to see if there were any tricks from seasoned fish keepers.

We had a bad one on Thursday night. I didn't feed, and I took my media out and put it in a bucket of tankwater. If it would have lasted longer I would have done small hourly WC's.

ya here on base the power always goes out so i got a ton of the battery operated air pumps just to gep the water moving a little

we had a black out here why they were working on somthin twice in one week, it was about four hours butin was at night from midnight till about 4 the fish were fine

well, if it was at time, then i wouldnt really worry since it is cooler and the temp in the tank is lower. during the afternoons, the temp in the tank is almost 88degrees (already have extra pumps and powerhead to get more movement). damn these blackouts. :(
