So i have had 55's and smaller for about 6 years now and its time to step in AAA with the 125 i recently bought. i got the tank (3years old) a new stand and glass hinged tops for $260 with bulkheads already in place. also i have a new fx5 and a new 405. so tank and filtration are done. going to use childrens play sand for the bottom with drift wood river rocks and fake plants. havent decided on whether i am going to paint the background black or just get one from the lfs. i dont know what to do about the lighting though i havent been able to find a 72" striplight so i was thinking about just getting 2 36" ones would that work? would these be safe to just lay on top of the glass? i know this is an endless debate but it seems just going with the media already provided in the filters doesnt work well so i am open to any suggestions there. all and any help with all aspects would be appreciated i will post some pics of the tank and everyone who will be in it tonight. it will be an oscar, JD, clown knife, common pleco, a polypterus palmas and a krib that runs the entire tank. i would like to add 1 more decent sized fish maybe a catfish of some kind ( i have a raphael striped cat that i havent seen since i bought him about a yer ago) he was a waste just lives in his tube free to anyone who wants to pick him up. Thanks in advance for any input!!
