The elk were out playing yesterday. The young ones were romping around chasing each other. They owned the world yesterday, crossing the road in front of us and behind us, grazing on both sides of the road. I rolled down the window and got a few pictures with my phone.
A few miles away, there are a couple of herds that graze/pass through peoples' yards. Quite a sight to see them in front yards. No elk herds here though, but we did have a bear pass through our yard with her two cubs about two weeks ago.
Great shots, I can never get anywhere near that close to the Elk around here, they tend to be very easy to spook. I have a driveway alarm, sometimes it will go off in the middle of the night and I will always go see what it is. If it is deer they just freeze, but if it is Elk they take off running the second I open the door - they sound like a bunch of horses galloping away.
