i cleaned off (ripped off all the bark) some tree roots i had on the side of my house a couple of days ago and boiled them, put them in my tank, now they have this layer of clear stuff on them! i dont know what it is, i couldnt even see it untill i looked very close on the roots. i'v had put many roots in my tank before but i have never seen this before, should i take the roots out?

i'd take em out

The clear stuff is fungus/rotting/decaying root. Remove them before it harms your fish.

I only trust the malay drift ;)

If it wasn't dead I don't think it would be a good idea to use it, boiled or not. Stick to shop bought driftwood.
