just curious guys ^_^ has anyone tried cross breeding rope fish to other bichirs? i was reading a post explaining of artificial breeding like getting the eggs and sperm from the bichirs and putting it into a tank a breeder tank and so wich resulted high success rate breeding in xbreeds. will this work for a rope fish? hehe your view of this matter is welcome ^_^ thanks just an idea

Different genuses I don't think it would work. Maybe between different bichirs but not ropes.

Different genera can sometimes interbreed, I think the limit is Family. It's a case by case sort of thing.

just imagine, a long and slimmy black fish from a ropefish and an ornate

Why it can be done can't it? Its not going intov wild, I don't see any prob with it. Hybrids are even good most of the times and help people. Example the mule. This example would be the beauty is the eye of the beholder kind of thing.

I hope it never happens. These fish have been unchanged for millions of years, and now we already have rather disgusting long finned varieties. Cross and selective breeding these fish is a huge disservice to something that nature perfected before mammals ruled the earth.

Agreed. I'm not keen on the whole Hybrid thing.
I would much rather A show piece pure breed.

There are of course the natural wild crossed Bichirs, but again, not my cup of tea.
